Manila, Philippines, August 18, 2011 — Staying true to its thrust to be a socially responsible organization, RCG IT Philippines, Inc., RCG Global Services’ Offshore Delivery Center (ODC) in Manila, has signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Lasallian Institute for the Environment (LIFE), to formalize RCG’s support for LIFE’s Green for Life: One Million Trees and Beyond (OMTB) Project. The project according to its website (www.1milliontreesandbeyond.com) aims to plant and nurture one million trees by the year 2011 as a response to the environmental challenges that the country faces today”. Since its launch on September 2006, the project through its tree planting activities and reforestation programs has facilitated the planting of 1,054,985 seedlings as of April this year.
Through the MOA, RCG will contribute to the OMTB Project by sponsoring 200 Kaong seedlings. Additionally, RCG employees together with other OMTB volunteers and community partners will participate in a tree planting activity on September 3, 2011 to plant the 200 seedlings at a site in Indang, Cavite (Philippines).
Present during the MOA signing were representatives from RCG Philippines — Mr. Richard McGonegal (President and Managing Director) and Ms. Gigi Melodias (Human Resource Manager), and from LIFE – Mr. Jorge Buenaventura (Project Director) and Ms. Ging Sison (Volunteer, Steering Committee). Members of RCG’s Employee Relations Committee led by Mr. Munesh Lalchandani and Ms. Pamela Ogali also witnessed the event.
Aside from signing the MOA, Mr. McGonegal also presented a check covering RCG’s sponsorship for the 200 seedlings to Mr. Buenaventura during the event. This sponsorship was made possible through the combined contributions of the company and its employees and partners.
