RCG's Ternent Speaking at Global Big Data Bootcamp

December 7-9, 2015 – Tampa

John Ternent, Director for Big Data and Advanced Analytics in RCG Global Services’ Southeast Region, will be speaking at the Global Big Data Bootcamp in Tampa on December 7 – 9. He will be presenting the following sessions:

  • December 7 (Monday) 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: An Introduction to Machine Learning with Spark — how to create and deploy machine learning projects for large, distributed data sets using Spark and MLLib.
  • December 8 (Tuesday) 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Big Data in the Trenches — Patterns, Tips, and Tricks for Big Data Projects.
  • December 9 (Wednesday) 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM: Case Study – Restaurant data analytics on the Google Big Data Platform

This is Ternent’s second year speaking at the Global Big Data Bootcamp. He has over 20 years’ experience as an architect, consultant, and technology executive. Prior to joining RCG, he worked extensively in the retail, hospitality, and entertainment industries, and in the high-tech industry leading software development teams in the BI and travel analytics spaces. He holds the INFORMS Certified Analytics Professional designation as well as Hortonworks Certified Developer and Certified Scrum Professional. He volunteers with Orlando-based non-profit boards and as a speaker and coordinator for Orlando Data Science. The Big Data bootcamp is a vendor agnostic, technical overview of the Big Data landscape targeted towards both technical and non-technical people who want to understand the emerging world of Big Data, with a specific focus on Hadoop, NoSQL & Machine Learning.
